It’s Monday evening. I was going to make the last Blue Apron entree for lunch, but I wasn’t hungry.
Then I was going to make it for dinner, but now I don’t feel like cooking.
Blue Apron may be great, but what I really want is a delivery service of homemade food – already prepared and ready to eat. Not pizza. Not Chinese. Not subs or burgers or buckets of chicken. Real food, with veggies and and the whole shebang, ready to eat.

I’ve thought about trying to start a kind of dinner co-op. Get maybe four people together and each of us would cook once a week with enough entrees for four. On the night you cook, you deliver dinner to the other three people. On the next three nights, dinner is dropped off for you.
I would so do this. Anybody around here interested?
I would, but the distance between our houses seems somewhat prohibitive. And also, what is Blue Apron?
You’re rethinking my Arby’s offer right about now, aren’t you? 🙄
Only if you stay to chat and laugh while we eat our sandwiches, Lee!
I am totally with you on this Kate. We used to have a local caterer who had fabulous gourmet meals to go. Patrick and I would buy four of them and split each one for our weekday meals, then go out on Friday night. It was cheaper than buying groceries! She would also have a soup to go so we would buy a half gallon of that for our Saturday meal. I am still grieving the closing of her business which she did to pursue other endeavors. There is another local bakery that does meals but nothing on the caliber of Carmen’s.
Hmm. Now I’m thinking, what about a good family-style restaurant? Or a couple of restaurants? Just order take out (maybe even two at a time) a couple of times a week? Yeah, I’d have to drive somewhere to pick them up, but if I’m driving to resort to fast food, this certainly is a far better reason to jump in the car. Thanks, Molly. You primed the pump. Oops! Mind if I steal that, Mr. President? Hahahahahahaha!
Jane, if I move to Sacramento, I’m calling you first. Sorry I forgot to include the Blue Apron link (this was my fourth post – and at least one more will be coming to finish the series. Let’s see if this works: http://www.blueapron.com or – Blue Apron is one of several companies that provides pre-measured ingredients and recipes to quickly and easily make healthy home-cooked meals. It really is ingenious and I know several people who love it (and other similar programs like Hello Fresh). I’m not so sure it’s the answer for me, but I’ve enjoyed trying it and would definitely be leaning toward it if I didn’t live alone.
